A Lagos landlord has reportedly reduced his tenant’s rent by 50% after the man’s wife welcomed twins through Caesarean section.
A barrister identified on X as @Dammi_Esq shared the heartwarming story after her friend, who recently welcomed the babies, reportedly called her crying.
‘I Thought Something Was Wrong With the Babies’
According to the barrister, her friend called her early in the morning and was crying, making her initially fear that something had happened to the newborn twins.
She later discovered that the tears were reportedly caused by an unexpected gesture from the family’s landlord.
“My friend just welcomed twins through CS, and this morning she called me crying,” she wrote.
“I immediately thought something was wrong with the babies.”
‘Her Landlord Had Just Sent Her a Letter’
The barrister said her friend explained that her landlord had sent her a letter informing her that their rent had been reduced by half.
“Turns out, her landlord had just sent her a letter reducing their rent by 50%,” she stated.
The gesture reportedly surprised her so much that she asked her friend to send her a copy of the letter.
“I asked her to send me the letter because I honestly couldn’t believe it,” she wrote.
She added that she read the letter twice before accepting that the landlord had actually reduced the rent.
‘In Lagos?’
The barrister expressed surprise at the gesture, particularly because the incident allegedly happened in Lagos, where rent costs have become a major concern for many residents.
“I read it twice,” she stated.
“In Lagos? A landlord actually reducing rent because his tenant’s wife just gave birth to twins?”
“I don’t even know what to say.
“Are there really landlords like this, or is this a one-in-a-million kind of landlord?” she asked.
