Suspected bandits have abducted three members of a commercial motorcycle riders’ union in Kogi State after attacking their vehicle along the Ageva–Magongo road.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, while the victims were returning from Lokoja.
The abducted victims were identified as Mr Jonathan Stephen Monday, chairman of the union’s Ogori Branch, Mr Ashemadaun Eben, and Mr Mosigbodi Jethro Adoga.
According to eyewitness accounts, the victims were among a delegation of union members who travelled to Lokoja to participate in a solidarity rally held in support of the re-election ambitions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Sources said the bus conveying the group was ambushed by heavily armed men suspected to be bandits along the Ageva–Magongo axis while they were returning from the event.
The attackers reportedly whisked away the three victims, while other passengers managed to escape.
Residents and travellers have repeatedly raised concerns over growing insecurity along the Ageva–Magongo road, which has witnessed several attacks on commuters in recent months.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies in the state had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
