The governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri on Tuesday, May 5, said that the power to appoint his successor lies solely with him.
Fintiri said this while receiving Comrade Mustapha Salihu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for the 2027 election at the Adamawa State Government House.
The governor also noted that Salihu is the first aspirant who has visited him for the purpose of presenting his APC nomination to him.
“I have the power to appoint and anoint my candidate and I am looking through all the variables and by next week, I will make my candidate known,” Fintiri said.
He also announced his committment to ensure that whoever he “anoints” emerges victorious in the 2027 general election in the state.
The governor said, “And I will go all out, with God on our side, with government structure, all of us, with our sleeves rolled up, we will vote for that candidate because it is the state that we want to salvage.
“I know the pulse of the state, I know what they feel, I know what they are telling me and I know who they want to succeed me. So I will only discuss that next week.
“If you still feel you are man enough, you’re good enough and politically exposed enough to go into the ring, you’re welcome,” he added.
