The Federal Government has explained who can receive its ₦50,000 monthly relief support and how selected beneficiaries will be notified under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).
The programme, managed by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, is designed to support poor and vulnerable households facing rising living costs.
According to the government’s official NERSI frequently asked questions, beneficiaries are selected from the National Social Register and verified national identity records. Selection is based on need and covers households across all six geopolitical zones.
However, not everyone will be selected in the current phase. Payments are being made in batches, so beneficiaries may receive notifications at different times.
There is no public application form or registration portal. Individuals cannot pay or approach anyone to secure a place on the list.
Selected beneficiaries will receive an SMS from one of five approved payment providers: ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo Payment Service Bank (PSB), NairaGram, OPay or Moniepoint. The message will confirm selection and provide instructions for accepting the support.
The ₦50,000 payment is a grant, not a loan, and beneficiaries are not required to repay it. The process is free, and no official will request a recipient’s personal identification number (PIN), one-time password (OTP) or Bank Verification Number (BVN).
How to check and receive the support
If you receive an SMS, use the USSD code provided by your payment provider and follow the instructions to give consent. You can also dial your provider’s official code and select “Check eligibility”. If you are not selected, the system will notify you. For assistance, call the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222. Never pay anyone promising to add your name or speed up payment.
