Masroor International Technical College (MITC), Ilaro, Ogun State, has graduated 52 students trained under the Federal Government’s technical education scheme introduced by President Bola Tinubu.
The institution, established two years ago under the Ahmadiyya educational system, is the first Islamic faith-based technical college in Nigeria. It was set up to equip young Nigerians with practical skills and help address the shortage of skilled artisans and technical workers in the country.
The graduates received training in various fields, including electrical installation, computer hardware repairs and maintenance, plumbing and pipe fitting, joinery, masonry and building, software engineering and coding.
Two female graduates distinguished themselves by earning distinctions in computer hardware repairs and maintenance, and electrical installation.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, commended parents and guardians for giving their children the opportunity to acquire technical skills.
He urged the graduates to uphold the values of the institution and serve as good ambassadors of the college and their respective professions.
The Ogun State Government also commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for its investment in technical education, describing such initiatives as important to Nigeria’s industrialisation and technological development.
The technical education programme received support from the International Association of Ahmadi Architects and Engineers (IAAAE), through its branches in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
