The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun uploading results from the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election to its official Result Viewing Portal (IReV), as collation progresses across the state.
Checks on the INEC Result Viewing Portal on Saturday showed that results from 514 out of 2,445 polling units have so far been uploaded.
This represents about 21.02 per cent of the expected polling unit results from across Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, election observer group Yiaga Africa has raised concerns over alleged inconsistencies in electoral documents used for the poll, warning that the discrepancies could affect transparency and result collation.
In a statement signed by Dr Aisha Abdullahi, Chair of its 2026 Ekiti Election Observation Mission, and Executive Director Samson Itodo, the group said its preliminary findings revealed mismatches between ballot papers, result sheets, and INEC’s published list of candidates.
Yiaga Africa noted that while Form EC8A result sheets provided space for 15 political parties, ballot papers in circulation reflected 19 parties. It also pointed out that INEC’s updated candidate list showed 14 parties fielding candidates as of June 18, 2026.
Observer Group Raises Concerns Over Possible Confusion
According to the organisation, these inconsistencies may create confusion during voting and collation, especially for presiding officers responsible for recording results.
Yiaga Africa warned that parties appearing on result sheets but not on ballot papers could lead to zero votes being recorded, while voters selecting parties not reflected on result sheets may face issues during reconciliation and collation.
The group said: “These inconsistencies might create confusion during voting and collation. Where result sheets include parties that are not on the ballot, presiding officers may record zero votes for parties that voters did not see.”
Call for INEC Clarification
Yiaga Africa urged INEC to urgently clarify the final list of political parties and candidates and ensure consistency across all election materials.

The group also called on the commission to explain the discrepancies between ballot papers, result sheets, and previous official announcements.
It further recommended that INEC issue clear instructions to presiding and collation officers on how to correctly complete result sheets in line with court judgments and electoral guidelines, particularly in cases where differences exist between ballot papers and result sheets.
Yiaga Africa said it deployed observers across polling units, noting that 96 per cent of its 250 sampled observers were present at polling units as of 8:30 am to monitor the election process.
INEC is expected to continue uploading results as collation progresses across all polling units in the state.
