The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over an alleged case involving the receipt of stolen property.
The anti-graft agency made the declaration in a wanted notice issued on Wednesday, identifying Maina, 61, as an indigene of Biu, Borno State.
The EFCC urged anyone with information that could assist in locating the former pension official to contact the commission, the nearest police station or other security agencies.
It listed its offices in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Gombe and Port Harcourt as points where relevant information could be provided.
Maina is a former chairman of the PRTT, a body that was established to tackle irregularities in Nigeria’s pension system.
His name has featured prominently in several high-profile investigations and criminal proceedings involving alleged pension fund diversion and money laundering.
In a separate case, the EFCC secured his conviction in November 2021 on a 12-count charge bordering on money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud involving about ₦2 billion. The commission said the court ordered him to refund ₦1 billion to the Federal Government.
The latest wanted declaration, however, concerns an alleged case of receiving stolen property and is separate from the earlier conviction.

A separate proceeding involving allegations that Maina received about ₦738.6 million in stolen funds has also featured in court proceedings in 2026.
Maina’s legal history has continued to attract public attention. He was released from prison in February 2025 after serving part of his sentence, with the Nigerian Correctional Service attributing the release to good conduct and applicable rules.
The EFCC’s latest declaration places the former pension task team chairman back in the spotlight as the commission seeks information on his whereabouts in connection with the new case.
