Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the immediate suspension of the State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Omorodion Ignatius Ikponmwosa, and the State Project Coordinator for the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (LPRES) Project, Mrs. Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku, over alleged infractions.
The suspensions were announced via a special directive signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, on Monday evening. The statement mandates the suspended officials to hand over all official documents, records, and government property pertaining to the LPRES initiative to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary with immediate effect. Both have also been summoned to the Office of the SSG for a comprehensive debriefing on the project’s operations.
While the specific nature of the infractions remains undisclosed at press time, the swift disciplinary action underscores the administration’s firm stance on official conduct. The LPRES Project is a federal-state partnership programme designed to boost livestock productivity and resilience across participating states.
