The federal high court in Abuja has fixed June 19 to deliver judgment in a suit filed by Yushau Shuaib, PRNigeria publisher challenging his withdrawal from the senior executive course 47 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
Justice Binta Nyako fixed the date on Wednesday after counsel to both parties adopted their final written addresses.
Teslim Adigun, counsel to the plaintiff urged the court to declare Shuaib’s withdrawal from the programme unlawful and order his reinstatement with full rights and privileges.
Adigun told the court that the plaintiff had filed a 43-paragraph affidavit alongside 14 exhibits in support of his claims.
However, counsel to NIPSS, P. A. Akubo, SAN, described the claims as exaggerated and asked the court to dismiss the suit.
Shuaib, in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1329/2025, is also seeking ₦1 billion in general and aggravated damages over alleged emotional and reputational harm, as well as ₦100 million in litigation costs.
He further asked the court to restrain NIPSS from any further harassment or intimidation.
During proceedings, Justice Nyako directed the plaintiff to return the key to his hostel accommodation at the institute.
Shuaib argued that the ₦18.3 million paid for the course covered accommodation for the entire duration of the programme and maintained that his participation had not been lawfully terminated.
