Company sues woman who claimed bread lasted over 2 months in viral video, demands ₦50m

A Nigerian trader has alleged that a bread company identified as “Bone Bread” is demanding ₦50 million in damages following a viral video she posted about a loaf that reportedly stayed fresh for over two months.

The woman, whose earlier video sparked widespread attention online, said she never mentioned or displayed the name of any bread brand in her original post, insisting she acted with caution throughout.

Dispute Emerges After Viral Video

In a follow-up video, the woman expressed shock over the legal threat, stating that she deliberately avoided identifying any company while sharing her experience.

Hello guys you won’t believe what i’m holding in my hands,” she began, while displaying what she described as a legal letter allegedly sent by the company’s solicitors.

She recalled that in the initial video, she spoke about a loaf of bread that remained in her shop for two months without spoiling. According to her, she intentionally withheld any identifying details.

I was very intentional in that video. I didn’t mention any brand, I didn’t show their logo, I was that careful,” she said.

Despite her efforts, she noted that viewers in the comment section speculated about different bread brands, with some sharing their own experiences and naming companies.

Company Allegedly Contacts Creator

The situation reportedly escalated shortly after the video gained traction. The woman claimed she received a direct message from individuals representing the company.

According to her, the message read: “We saw a video circulating online that you made with a product that resembles our own.”

She added that while trying to process the message, she received a phone call from someone who introduced themselves as a representative of the company.

“I lost it. I said hold it right there, I did not make any video about your bread and please stop calling me,” she recounted.

Following the call, she alleged that the company continued communication through voice messages and comments across her social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

Allegations of Defamation and Threats

The content creator further claimed that the company accused her of defamation and demanded that she take down the video.

She quoted part of the alleged message: “Madam is not somebody I can joke with. You don’t even understand the gravity of what you are doing.”

According to her, the company warned of legal action if the video was not removed before a specified deadline.

They wrote this long letter telling me I should bring down the video because I am defaming them,” she said.

Lawsuit and ₦50 Million Demand

The controversy took a more serious turn when she reportedly received a formal letter from a lawyer.

My girl calls me that a lawyer is here with a letter and is from bone bread,” she said.

The letter, she claimed, demanded that she retract her statements, delete the video, and pay ₦50 million in damages.

She added that the company alleged it suffered financial losses amounting to that sum within three days due to the viral post.

They are demanding I take down the video, retract what I have said, and give them 50 million naira because for these three days that is how much they have lost,” she stated.

Creator Maintains Innocence

The woman maintained that she never mentioned the company’s name at any point and questioned why it chose to associate itself with the video.

For the millionth time, your name is not in this video, your logo is not shown in this video, I did not mention you,” she insisted.

She also denied using defamatory language, stating that she never accused any brand of wrongdoing in her original post.

“If anyone decides to insert themselves in my video by going into the comment section and claiming everything I said, that is not my doing,” she added.

Calls for Clarification

In her closing remarks, the content creator reiterated that her video remains publicly available and clearly shows she did not identify any brand.

My video cannot lie. It is there. I spoke in clear English,” she said.

She concluded by reaffirming her stance that she would not mention any brand in connection with the incident, while expressing confusion over the legal claims made against her.
