Marrify: Government launches App to verify individuals’ marital status

The Ghanaian Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has launched a new application, Marrify, designed to help prospective couples verify the marital status of their partners before marriage.

The initiative is aimed at promoting transparency among intending couples and helping individuals make informed decisions before entering into marital relationships.

App unveiled to promote informed marriages

The application was unveiled during a launch ceremony in Ghana attended by the country’s Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.

Marrify was developed and launched in collaboration with MarryRight, an agency specialising in family law and marriage-related services.

Speaking at the event, Lartey highlighted the importance of transparency and adequate information before individuals make the lifelong commitment of marriage.

According to her, the application would provide prospective couples with an opportunity to approach marriage with greater awareness, responsibility and confidence.

She said the platform could help people make better-informed decisions about their relationships while encouraging marriages built on mutual respect and honesty.

Government highlights role in preventing abuse

Lartey also noted that promoting transparency and healthy relationships could contribute to efforts aimed at preventing gender-based violence.

She explained that access to relevant information before marriage could help reduce situations where individuals enter relationships without fully understanding important aspects of their partners’ lives.

The minister described the launch as an important step towards encouraging responsible relationships and strengthening family structures.

The introduction of Marrify has attracted attention as technology continues to play an increasing role in addressing social and relationship challenges.

With the new platform, prospective couples in Ghana may have an additional tool to verify important marital information before taking the next step towards marriage.
