Lukman Alhaji Nasiru, 26 years old, of Garin Malam Village, Gamawa LGA of Bauchi State, has been arrested for allegedly luring and raping a 50-year-old mentally ill woman on the outskirts of Garin Malam.
The disclosure was made by the Command PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement he signed and made available to Journalists on Saturday.
According to him, “On 25th September, 2026 at about 1730hrs, a 40-year-old man of Gauya Village via Jakusko LGA, Yobe State, reported at Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters that on 22nd September, 2026 at about 1215hrs, his elder sister was lured and violated.”
The PPRO added that upon receipt of the report, the suspect was promptly arrested, and both the victim and the suspect were taken to General Hospital Gamawa for medical examination as investigation is in progress.
Also in its sustained onslaught against illegal arms proliferation, the Command recorded breakthroughs with the arrest of three suspects for unlawful possession and fabrication of firearms in Misau LGA.
On 25th September, 2026 at about 1500hrs, operatives attached to Misau Division, while on court duty at Chief Magistrate Court 1, Misau, intercepted one Abubakar Ahmad alias Tino, 30 years old of Makara Huta Quarters, Misau, in possession of one locally fabricated pistol loaded with one live cartridge.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was attempting to hand over the firearm to one Tijjani Yakubu, 35 years old of the same address, who was being remanded at a Correctional Centre for offences of criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property.
Upon interrogation, Tijjani confessed to owning the exhibit and giving it to Abubakar for safe-keeping, confessing to have purchased the pistol from one Bappah Kawu, 48 years old, a welder of Tashar Masu in Misau.
Consequently, the said Bappah Kawu was arrested, and he confessed to having fabricated and sold the pistol to Tijjani at the sum of N30,000.00.
Furthermore, during a search at his workshop, two dane guns and instruments used for fabrication, including a hacksaw, files and long iron pipes, were recovered as exhibits.
All suspects are in custody while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for discreet investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for illegal arms and sexual offences, and assured the public of its commitment to ensure justice, while urging citizens to continue to provide timely and credible information to the Police.
