The former chairman of Somolu Local Government chairman, honourable
Olorogun Gbolahan Bago-Stowe, has called on his followers and admires to remain calm and unperturbed with the ongoing outcome of the recently held primary election of their political party, All Progressive Congress (APC) in the local government.
Honourable Bago-Stowe who is among the contestants in the APC’s primary election also expressed dissatisfaction over the outcome of the election for Somolu Constituency 1 in Lagos State, alleging that his mandate was unfairly taken away despite what he described as overwhelming support on the ground.
Bago-Stowe in a statement issued and signed today and made available to this medium, urged his supporters, loyalists and party members to remain calm and avoid any form of violence following the controversial primary.
According to him, the exercise was influenced by external forces determined to alter the outcome at the last minute.
He alleged that Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu replaced his name with that of the governor’s cousin, Abiodun Orekoya, shortly before the final outcome was announced. While maintained that he won the primary and insisted that many party faithful in Somolu were aware of the true situation.
Despite his grievances, Bago-Stowe reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, stressing that the party remains supreme above personal interests. He assured supporters that they had “lost nothing” and described them as the majority in the constituency.
He further appealed to his followers to remain patient and await further directives from the party leadership while maintaining peace and unity within the APC.
The statement captioned ‘to my supporters, The Outcome Of The Lagos State House Of Assembly Primary In Somolu Constituency 1, reads: “As a party member, I, Olorogun Gbolahan Bago-Stowe, urge my supporters to remain calm; I understand it’s painful.
“However, everyone knows we won the primary and are present on the ground despite the external influences brought to Somolu on primary day.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu ensured he changed my name to that of his cousin at the last minute.
Once again, I call on you, my supporters, to remain calm. You know I am truly devoted to the party. I do not support violence.
“We haven’t lost anything, and I stand with you;we are the majority. Let’s wait for the party’s instructions. APC is our party, regardless.
