Brazilian beauty queen Ana Beatriz Araújo Ferreira has died at the age of 22 after being struck by lightning during a rainstorm.

The tragic incident reportedly happened on Saturday while Ana was at her mother’s home and was combing the hair of her niece in an outdoor bathtub area.
According to her family, the weather had been relatively calm, with cloudy skies and light drizzle, before the lightning suddenly struck.

Speaking to CNN Brasil about the incident, her brother, César Augusto, said: “The day was cloudy with a very calm drizzle”
Her sister, Lana Letícia, also recalled the heartbreaking moment, saying: “She was combing my niece’s hair when the bolt hit,”
Before the incident, Ana, who was affectionately known as Aninha, had reportedly just finished bathing her five-year-old son. She then began brushing the hair of Augusto’s daughter when the lightning struck.
The 22-year-old sustained serious injuries in the incident and was rushed to hospital for treatment. Despite efforts to save her, she later died.
Following her death, her brother César Augusto paid an emotional tribute to her on Instagram, remembering her as someone who had made a lasting impact on the family.
He wrote: “Aninha is and was one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever known.
“Thank you for those 22 years of us,”
“For having existed. For teaching us so much in such a short time. You aren’t truly gone. You live on in your son, in our story, and in a love that will never end.”
Ana’s death has left her family and loved ones mourning the loss of the young mother, beauty queen and daughter whose life was tragically cut short at just 22.
