The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru, Yobe State, Professor Hadiza Abdullahi Usman, has suffered a heartbreaking loss after her twin daughters, Dr Hadiyah Usman Abdullahi and Aidah Usman Abdullahi, died within two days of each other.

Hadiyah was a medical doctor, while her twin sister, Aidah, was a pharmacist.
The sisters reportedly died following complications associated with sickle cell disease.

According to reports, Hadiyah died on Friday, October 2, after spending about a week at FMC Nguru, where she had been receiving treatment following a sickle cell crisis.
Her twin sister, Aidah, was reportedly receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital around the same period. She was said to have recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
Hadiyah was laid to rest following funeral prayers at the Emir’s Palace on Friday.
Two days after attending her twin sister’s burial, Aidah reportedly visited Hadiyah’s grave. She was said to have suddenly fainted after the visit and was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.
The tragic deaths of the twins were also confirmed by the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, in a Facebook post.
The hospital wrote:
“Inna lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajiun
This is to announce the death of Aidah Usman Abdullahi, the second twins to the Medical Director, Professor Hadiza Abdullahi Usman.
The funeral prayer is slated from 5:30pm at the Emirs palace.
