The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State has urged its members and supporters to remain calm following reports that the names of some candidates were missing from recent lists released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party said it remained committed to democratic principles and described itself as a beacon of hope for the people.
The Zamfara State NDC Chairman, Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako, made the appeal in a statement issued in Gusau, the state capital, on Monday.
Maikatako called on party members, supporters, and residents of the state to remain steadfast and continue supporting the party’s governorship candidate.
The statement reads in part, “Our collective focus and singular priority is to win the 2027 general elections.
“Nigeria Democratic Congress is a formidable movement with a rich history, a party built on strong democratic principles, and a beacon of hope for the suffering people.”

He urged members to maintain unity, discipline, and a shared commitment to securing victory in the 2027 elections.
Maikatako also called on supporters to intensify their grassroots mobilisation efforts to ensure that Senator Kabir Garba Marafa emerges as the next governor of Zamfara State.
Describing the election as a historic moment, he said the party’s ambition required seriousness, sacrifice and total commitment from its members.
The chairman further urged NDC members and supporters to obey the law and conduct themselves with maturity and dignity.
“The only battle we must wage is to defeat this incompetent and visionless administration with votes, not with violence or thuggery,” he said.
Maikatako expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, saying, “Time for change is now; the leader for that change is Senator Kabir Garba Marafa; victory is ours,Godwilling.”
