PFIPC: Court strikes out FG’s charges against fake agency DG, Adeyemi

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charges preferred against the alleged fake Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Mr Adeniyi Adeyemi, by the federal government.

The trial judge, Justice Mohammed Umar, on Monday, terminated Adeyemi’s trial before him following the request of the federal government to that effect and on the basis that the accused person would be moved to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for fresh arraignment.

During the proceedings on Monday, the Director of the Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF), Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN moved the application for the termination of the charges against Adeyemi.

Oyedepo told the judge that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice carried out a review of Adeyemi’s case file and the charge filed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) against him and found some loopholes.

Among others, he said, the documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi during his operations of the fake agency are those that can be prosecuted by the High Court of the FCT and not the Federal High Court.

The DPPF said a new charge has been filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory and that Adeyemi would be expeditiously arraigned afresh and prayed the judge to strike out the charge as required by law.

Following no objections from Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, who represented Adeyemi, Justice Umar terminated the charge accordingly.

Adeniyi, 38 years old, was being tried alongside two others whose whereabouts were unknown, on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation over his claim to be the Director-General of the PFIPC, an organisation the Presidency has disowned as “fake”.

The two others said to be at large were identified as Femi (surname unknown) and Anu (surname unknown).

The charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025, was entered against the defendant by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF), Oyedepo Rotimi, SAN.

Adeyemi was arrested in Osun State in July after the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest over his repeated failure to appear for arraignment.
