Anambra Central Poll: Lecturers, communities others rally support for Onyendozi

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo, has received a boost ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a meeting with university lecturers drawn from the seven local government areas in the constituency.

The lecturers, who met with Nwankwo, popularly known as Onyendozi, at Enugwu-Ukwu on Sunday, October 11, described him as their preferred candidate for the forthcoming Senate election, urging voters to make an informed choice at the polls.

The interactive session focused on the need for a new phase of leadership that would prioritise competence, articulate representation and the interests of constituents across the senatorial district.

Nwankwo, described in the report as a top-ranking member of the National Assembly, had secured APGA’s senatorial ticket through what was described as a popular vote margin.

Addressing the participants, he called on the electorate to work together to ensure his victory, saying a collective effort would help secure a landslide win in the interest and benefit of the constituency.

He assured residents that all seven local government areas — Njikoka, Dunukofia, Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Idemili North and Idemili South — would be carried along in his representation.

The APGA candidate also emphasised that his constituency office was open to all constituents, irrespective of their community, assuring them that they could visit the office or contact its staff whenever they needed assistance.

“This Constituency office belongs to all of us,” Nwankwo said.

He added that arrangements had been concluded to keep the office’s telephone lines open round the clock to ensure effective communication, accessibility and prompt attention to the needs of constituents.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr Chike Oramalu, a political science lecturer at the University of Idaho, United States, said Nwankwo emerged as the group’s preferred candidate after what he described as a thorough scrutiny and assessment.

Oramalu urged voters across Anambra Central to make a wise and informed decision when casting their ballots in the forthcoming Senate election.

He expressed confidence in Nwankwo’s candidacy, describing him as the group’s preferred choice ahead of the January election.

The constituency comprises Njikoka, Dunukofia, Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Idemili North and Idemili South local government areas.
