A Nigerian woman has reportedly left her matrimonial home following a heated argument with her husband, who allegedly told her she was thinking like a poor woman during a disagreement over buying land or purchasing a furnished house.
According to her friend, who has been hosting her for five days, the disagreement began when the couple discussed their plans for acquiring a home.
While the wife suggested buying land and building their own house, her husband preferred purchasing a furnished property.
The argument escalated when the husband allegedly made hurtful remarks about why he married her, claiming he did not marry her out of love but because his parents pressured him to settle down.
Husband asks wife to apologise after reporting her to in-laws
The woman reportedly fired back, calling her husband a money miss road and accusing him of changing after becoming wealthy.
Angered by the exchange, the husband allegedly left their home and went to his in-laws to report his wife.
However, rather than hearing her side of the story, the woman’s parents reportedly advised her to apologise to her husband and stop being difficult.
She refused, insisting that she would not apologise until her husband apologised for his remarks.
The husband subsequently told her that he was the head of the household and that she had to apologise or leave his house. She chose to leave.
Woman plans to start afresh after marital disagreement
According to her friend, the woman has since been making plans to rent an apartment and establish her own business.
She reportedly has savings she has accumulated over several years, which could help her begin a new chapter independently.
The account highlights tensions that can arise in marriages over money, respect and decision-making, particularly when partners disagree about major financial choices.
It also raises questions about the role of extended family members in marital disputes and the pressure some spouses face to apologise even when they believe they have been wronged.
The couple’s current relationship status and whether they will reconcile remain unclear.
