Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, on Monday, forwarded the name of his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa and Balarabe Saidu-Gani to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as commissioners.
Bature Dawakin Tofa is the Director-General, Media and Publicity to the governor.
The Speaker of the house, Jibril Ismail-Falgore, read the letter containing the names of the commissioner nominees on the floor of the house on Monday.
Ismail-Falgore said the governor requested the house to confirm the appointment of the commissioner nominees into the State Executive Council.
He quoted the governor saying, “In accordance with the power vested in me by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and in line with the established procedure.
“I hereby, formally seek the kind consideration and approval of the house for the appointment of two additional commissioners and member of the State Executive Council.
“Who have been carefully selected based on merit as follows: Sanusi Ahmad-Bature and Balarabe Saidu-Gani.
“The request is hereby forwarded for the approval by the Kano State House of Assembly,” the letter reads.
The Speaker, therefore, invited the nominees to appear before the assembly on Tuesday for screening and confirmation.
The House leader, Lawan Hussaini (APC -Dala constituency), said the names of the commissioner nominees were familiar.
He said the nominees should appear before the house by 10 a.m., for the screening and confirmation. (NAN)
