Governorship aspirant in Kwara State, Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, has condemned the recent attack on the palace of the Emir of Yashikira in Kaiama Local Government Area, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.
In a statement issued on Monday, Araba expressed shock over the attack on the community, which reportedly resulted in abductions and destruction of property. He sympathised with the Emir of Yashikira, affected families and residents, noting that the incident reflects the worsening insecurity facing rural communities.
The governorship hopeful said the assault further exposed the weaknesses in Nigeria’s security system and renewed his call for the establishment of State Police and stronger subnational security structures across the country.
According to him, the current centralised policing arrangement has become overstretched and unable to effectively respond to growing security threats, especially in remote communities. He stressed that localised policing would improve intelligence gathering and rapid response to attacks.
Araba also urged government authorities and security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property, while ensuring those behind the Yashikira attack are identified and brought to justice.
