Beneficiaries receiving the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 relief through Wema Bank have reportedly started getting payment alerts, with disbursement ongoing.
The payments are part of the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), which provides financial assistance to vulnerable households.
The programme uses approved providers, including ALAT by Wema Bank, to deliver funds to selected recipients through mobile wallets.
Beneficiaries are selected through verified national identity records and the National Social Register. It is not an open application exercise, and having a Wema Bank account does not automatically qualify anyone.
The government says the process is free. Beneficiaries should not pay agents or disclose their personal identification numbers (PINs), one-time passwords (OTPs) or Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs).
Payments are being processed in phases, so recipients may receive alerts at different times, with no announced timetable. Those still waiting should check through official NERSI channels.
How to withdraw
Beneficiaries can transfer credited funds from their ALAT wallets to a bank account or Point of Sale (POS) agent and collect cash. They may also visit a Wema Bank branch for assistance. For enquiries, call the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.
