President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to put aside their differences and embrace dialogue as a means of preserving the unity of the country.
The President also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to promoting peace and security beyond its borders, saying the country would continue to work with other nations to confront growing security challenges.
Tinubu made the call on Tuesday at the International Conference on Security and National Unity, organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in partnership with the Muslim World League.
Represented at the event by the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, the President said national unity remained essential to Nigeria’s survival despite the differences among its citizens.
According to him, disagreements should not become a reason for Nigerians to abandon dialogue or allow the country to become divided.
“Not only that, the government is determined to make sure that we remain united as a country, despite our differences, whatever the differences may be.
“We should talk and remain in this country, and allow this country to remain a united nation, a united country.”
The President said his administration was determined to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges while strengthening cooperation with other countries in the pursuit of peace.
He described the conference as particularly important at a time when security concerns continue to affect several parts of the world.
According to Tinubu, the discussions and recommendations from the gathering could contribute to building sustainable peace not only in Nigeria but across Africa and the wider international community.

He said the government remained committed to finding solutions to the country’s security challenges through collaboration and constructive engagement.
Muslim World League Praised For Nigeria Partnership
Tinubu also commended the Muslim World League for collaborating with JIBWIS to organise the conference and for selecting Nigeria as the first country to host the international gathering.
He expressed optimism that the conference would provide an important platform for religious, political and other stakeholders to exchange ideas on security, peaceful coexistence and national unity.
The President’s message comes amid continuing security concerns in different parts of Nigeria, making the call for dialogue and unity particularly significant.
For Tinubu, the challenge is not simply confronting insecurity with security measures, but also ensuring that Nigeria’s diversity does not become a source of division.
His appeal was therefore straightforward: differences may remain, but dialogue must keep Nigerians together.
