VP Shettima, governors attend annual prayer for Tinubu’s mother at national mosque

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday led a high-profile delegation of governors, ministers, traditional rulers, and senior government officials to the National Mosque in Abuja for the annual special prayer session held in honour of the late Chief Abibatu Mogaji, mother of President Bola Tinubu.

The event, confirmed in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communication (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, has become a yearly religious gathering to pray for the repose of the late matriarch’s soul.

The prayer session attracted top political and religious figures from across the country, who gathered to reflect on the life and legacy of Chief Abibatu Mogaji, a respected businesswoman and community leader.

Vice President Shettima was accompanied by several prominent officials, including Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Others in attendance included the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqa Rabe Darma; the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; and the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ibrahim Masari.

Former governors such as Kogi State’s Usman Ododo and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, were also present, alongside traditional rulers and other senior government functionaries.

The annual prayer gathering continues to serve as a moment of remembrance for Chief Abibatu Mogaji, whose influence in business, community leadership, and politics remains widely acknowledged, particularly in Lagos and beyond.
