Voting begins in Ekiti as Oluyede joins elderly voters at Ikere-Ekiti polling unit

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, was among early participants in Saturday’s governorship election as voting commenced across several polling units in the state.

Oluyede arrived at Polling Unit 6, Osagburu Hall, Ward 3, Ikere-Ekiti, where he joined other eligible voters to cast his ballot.

The polling station also witnessed a notable presence of elderly voters who turned out early for accreditation, underscoring strong participation from different age groups.

One of the prominent voters at the centre was 86-year-old Madam Abiodun Ajewole, who was seen patiently waiting in line to complete the accreditation process before voting.

Other elderly residents were also observed at the polling unit as electoral officials continued the accreditation and voting exercise in an orderly manner.

At Ward 6, Polling Unit 003, located in front of the Oyebanji family compound in Okelele, voters were seen confirming their details on the register before accreditation and voting began.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived at the location earlier in the day, briefing voters and ensuring smooth commencement of the process, which began at about 8:30 a.m.

A voter identified simply as Aduke confirmed her readiness after successfully verifying her details.

“I have checked my name; it is on the register, and I am ready to vote. Hopefully, others will come out to do so,” she said.

Voting continued peacefully across the affected polling units as residents participated in the governorship election process.
