FRSC issues traffic advisory as PMS truck breaks down on AYA–Nyanya route in Abuja

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has alerted motorists to a truck conveying Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, that broke down along the Mogadishu Cantonment, AYA–Nyanya Route corridor in the Federal Capital Territory.

In a traffic advisory issued on Tuesday, the Corps said preliminary findings indicate that speeding and loss of control contributed to the incident.

While the vehicle remains on a section of the roadway, traffic flow has not been significantly disrupted as motorists can still navigate the route with caution.

The FCT Sector Commander is at the scene, leading personnel from the Sector Command and Nyanya Unit Command in traffic management and safety operations to ensure free flow of traffic and protect road users.

FRSC advised drivers to approach the affected area with caution, obey traffic directions from officers on ground, and avoid excessive speeding or dangerous overtaking around the scene.

Given the inflammable nature of the PMS cargo, road users were urged to exercise maximum restraint and cooperate with emergency responders while recovery efforts continue.

“The Corps remains committed to ensuring the safety of commuters and will continue to monitor the situation until the vehicle is safely evacuated and normal conditions fully restored,” the statement added.

Motorists plying the AYA–Nyanya corridor are advised to plan their trips and consider alternative routes if possible until the truck is removed.
