Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt condemn Israel’s ‘crackdown on Palestinians’

The latest round of jihad aggression against Israel was instigated on the Temple Mount by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Thousands of Palestinians gathered at the Temple Mount ahead of Jerusalem Day, armed with rocks and other makeshift weapons. The Palestinians then started rioting, hurling rocks, and forcing police to enter the Temple Mount compound. It escalated from there. Israel had no choice but to respond. Nonetheless, the reaction of Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt was predictable.

One would expect such reactions from Turkey and Qatar, given Turkish President Erdogan’s habitual bravado and the blatant Islamic expansionist policy of both countries — including their support of the Muslim Brotherhood. Saudi Arabian and Egyptian leaders, however, have been talking “reform”. The only democracy in the Middle East is Israel, and it is no secret that Arab nations have attacked it from its birth in 1948. The Palestinian network of jihadists, largely financed by Iran, have sought to continue what was started, i.e., the obliteration of Israel. Those who have been taking Saudi Arabia and Egypt at face value on their efforts at “reform,” should ask themselves: why would these countries not see the need for Israel to defend itself in the face of aggression?

The answer lies in the Saudi continuing commitment to Wahhabism (from which the Crown Prince has somewhat distanced himself) and Egypt’s dedication to its state religion, Islam. Normative Islam is inherently supremacist. When all is said and done to facilitate economics in the world market, and political clout on the world stage, an infidel is an infidel. It is thus no surprise that Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt would be united against Israel in this latest round of extreme jihadist violence, instigated against Israel by their Muslim brothers, the Palestinians. These nations know full well what would happen if Israel laid down its weapons. Since 1948, it has always been about defensive war on the Israel side, and jihad on the Islamic side.

Now Jordan and Saudi Arabia are calling for “effective international efforts to protect Palestinians against Israeli attacks and violations,” whatever that means. Jordan and Saudi Arabia didn’t condemn the Palestinian aggression, but they condemned “illegal Israeli practices” and went on to threaten “that continued Israeli aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Gaza Strip, and the eviction of Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood will have consequences.”

“Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt condemn Israel crackdown on Palestinians,” Middle East Monitor, May 11, 2021:

A number of correspondences have been made between states in the region following Israel’s harsh crackdown on Palestinian protestors and its raids into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, calling upon Tel Aviv to respect the Palestinians’ rights and respect international law.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a call to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, yesterday to discuss a number of issues relating to strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations.

A key topic in their call, too, were the developments in the Palestinian territories and occupied East Jerusalem over the past week, in which Israeli forces have been attacking worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and yesterday killed at least 20 Palestinians – including 9 children – in the Gaza Strip.

The two leaders condemned Israel’s actions, calling on it to cease its attacks on unarmed civilians and abide by international law.

On the same day, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry made a call to his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, during which they rejected and condemned actions “undermining legitimate Palestinian rights” and emphasised Israel’s responsibility to protect those rights.

According to the official spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Hafez, the ministers “discussed the rapid developments in the Palestinian arena, and the recent Israeli incursions into the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Yesterday marked the culmination of weeks of tensions between Palestinians in Jerusalem and Israeli police……

“Jordan, Saudi Arabia call for protection of Palestinians”, by Laith Al-Junaidi, Anadolu Agency, May 11, 2021:

AMMAN, Jordan

Jordan and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday called for effective international efforts to protect Palestinians against Israeli attacks and violations.

The call came during talks over the phone between Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

“The two ministers emphasized the necessity of crystallizing an effective international effort to protect the Palestinians against Israeli attacks and violations,” Jordan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement said the two ministers condemned “illegal Israeli practices”, warning that continued Israeli aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Gaza Strip, and the eviction of Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood will have consequences.

The two countries called on Israel to stop its violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and “respect the historical and the existing legal status of Jerusalem and its sanctities”……
