Tupac’s murder trial has entered its second day in a Nevada courtroom. It was reported that Davis is accused of planning Tupac’s murder and allegedly providing the gun used in the shooting. However, the prosecutors said he was not the one who fired the shot at Tupac that night.

Davis has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The trial is taking place nearly three decades after Tupac was shot while riding as a passenger in Suge Knight’s BMW. The rapper was gunned down near the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996.

A former Las Vegas police officer who was with Tupac after the shooting has given his testimony. The officer said that Tupac refused to identify his shooter and instead said his gang would handle the shooter. Davis will be facing life in prison if found guilty, per TMZ.

A jailhouse call has surfaced, and it becomes a potential problem for Davis’ defense. The seven-minute conversation was reportedly recorded days after his 2023 arrest. The call goes against Davis’s claim about his memoir.

During the call, a woman asked Davis about “Compton Street Legend, the memoir containing his account of Tupac’s shooting. Davis acknowledged writing the book, despite his defense claim that a ghostwriter wrote it.

Prosecutors could use Davis’ call recording alongside the memoir and other evidence to argue that he helped organize the attack. The Blast reported that Davis’ attorney, Michael Sanft, claimed that the prosecutors do not have enough evidence against Davis. Davis talked about the former Los Angeles police officer who linked him to the rap legend’s death.

Over the years, Davis has spoken publicly about Tupac’s murder. He initially discussed the case with authorities while investigators were looking into the murder of Christopher ‘The Notorious B.I.G.’ Wallace. Davis reportedly offered information about Tupac’s case during that interaction.

A family friend shared that Davis’ wife, Paula, said that her husband’s complicated situation is due to the public statements he made. The family friend shared that Davis’ wife is angry; she “is livid with Davis for opening his big mouth and causing this problem.”

The jail recording layer is due to Davis’ apparent admission about writing his memoir. His attorney has described the prosecution’s case as weak. The prosecutor is prone to using his public statements and the memoir against him in court.

Tupac’s family has questions surrounding the death of the rapper. This comes as a result of allegations involving a possible payment connected to Tupac’s killing. In 2024, the family had hired lawyers and investigators to examine claims involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Those claims stemmed from statements Davis had previously made about an alleged payment connected to Tupac’s murder. The Blast reported that Tupac’s family hired attorneys and investigators to determine whether evidence existed to support the allegations. Diddy is yet to be considered a suspect in Tupac’s murder.

The family was reportedly considering possible legal action if investigators uncovered evidence that supported the allegations. The legal team hired was said to be confident about gathering evidence about the claim. The allegation remains separate from Davis’ case.

Even after death, Tupac’s life has generated a lot of interest. In 2023, pieces connected to the rapper’s time in prison were put up for sale at significant prices. One item was a booking photo from his stay at Clinton Correctional Facility in New York.

A laminated prison identification card was also offered, with the two pieces reportedly priced at $35,000 and $75,000. The memorabilia came from Tupac’s 1995 prison stay after his conviction on sexual abuse charges. The items were reportedly passed through several owners before reaching a private collector.

More information about the items and asking prices was shared by The Blast. Decades after Tupac’s death, Davis is finally facing a jury over the case. He has openly shamed the idea of justice and talked about his involvement in the murder of the rap legend.
