Hayden Panettiere‘s family has added an extra layer to events surrounding her passing.
The actress’ mother, Lesley Vogel, is revealing the depths of her questionable relationship with her partner Brian Hickerson, who reportedly remained in her life despite their disapproval.

The late actress’ mom had told NBC News that Hickerson was the one person they had tried so hard to separate her daughter from because he had no positive influence on her life.
Vogel added that Hickerson was also with her during her last minutes on earth, and it was reported that Hickerson was very emotional while emergency medical services professionals worked on the actress.
Hickerson seemingly holds the same feeling of dislike for Panettiere’s mother, as he once described her as one of the worst people he has ever met in his life back in May. Vogel stressed that she sees her daughter as a very talented person in so many ways who felt the pressure of being in the entertainment industry.
“I think young people who grow up in the entertainment industry; it is a struggle, and it’s a very challenging industry, and it’s not unusual for them to sadly find the wrong path,” Vogel declared.
As shared by TMZ, Hickerson and his brother Zach were at the scene when Panettiere passed away on Sunday, August 16, in an apartment in South Carolina.

Panettiere touched on the extent of damage in her relationship with her mother in her memoir “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” revealing that they parted ways as business partners as soon as she turned 19.
As shared by The Blast, the actress stated that her mother had managed her since she started her career appearing on commercials and shows as a child.
Panettiere noted that as soon as she informed her mother about her decision, Vogel did the most shocking thing by asking her daughter to pay her what she owed.
Subsequently, the end of the professional relationship brought an end to their personal relationship, which was already so delicate due to Panettiere’s years of walking on eggshells around Vogel.
However, Panettiere’s mother insisted that their relationship went sour due to some behavioral flaws in the actress, including lack of compassion, need for excessive control, and entitlement.
Vogel added that she became frustrated with her daughter’s unchanging ways, and the actress’ reaction was to attack her verbally, gaslight her, and manipulate the public against her.

As stated by the actress, Vogel once heaped the blame for missing out on her brother’s important moments on her, noting that it was because she had to follow the movie star to auditions as her manager.
Panettiere had responded to her mother at the time, clarifying that she never asked her to take on the role of manager nor was she the one who decided to take on acting roles.

The Blast stated that the couple traveled together to South Carolina just a day before her death.
The couple had previously parted ways over allegations of domestic violence and, over the years, had gotten back together with Hickerson and maintained close ties with his family due to the absence of hers. However, another insider revealed that the couple never actually broke up; instead, they spread that rumor to protect Panettiere’s career.
The actress was reportedly advised to keep her relationship with Hickerson away from the public glare because he was bad for optics, and news of their reconnection may affect her book sales.
Hickerson had faced domestic abuse accusations involving Panettiere in 2019; however, the charges were dropped until he was arrested again in 2020 on several charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
Panettiere also addressed the alleged abuse, expressing hope that her story would inspire others in abusive relationships to seek help. Hickerson pleaded no contest and received 45 days in jail, four years’ probation, and 52 domestic violence classes.

First responders reportedly found her in cardiac arrest and attempted lifesaving measures before she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. An autopsy conducted Monday also reportedly found no evidence of physical injuries linked to her death.
Although early emergency reports raised the possibility of an accidental overdose, officials have not determined the final cause or manner of death. The toxicology report is pending, and investigators are still working to determine if there was any foul play, authorities said.
