Transfer: Mourinho tells Real Madrid to sign Man Utd target

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, has told Real Madrid to beat Manchester United to the signing of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes this summer.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Mourinho, who is all set to become Real Madrid’s next manager, has recommended the signing of Fernandes to the club’s president, Florentino Perez.

Fernandes was signed by West Ham from Southampton last year.

But the 21-year-old is now set to leave West Ham following the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League.

Fernandes has interest from several clubs, including Man United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

Man United have already begun talks over a deal to sign Fernandes, with West Ham demanding an £80m transfer fee for the midfielder.

Fernandes has also made the Red Devils his priority destination ahead of other clubs in the summer transfer window.

However, it is yet to be seen if Real Madrid will beat Man United to Fernandes’ signature.
