TINUBU SHIFTS THREE-NATION TRIP TO SUNDAY

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed the commencement of his planned three-country visit, with the trip now scheduled to begin on Sunday instead of the earlier announced Saturday departure.

The change was confirmed on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who disclosed the development via his official X platform. He stated, “President Tinubu has rescheduled his three-nation trip to begin on Sunday, rather than Saturday as previously indicated.”

No official reason was given for the adjustment in schedule.

The President had been expected to leave Abuja for official visits to France, Kenya and Rwanda, beginning with a stop in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya.

During his stay in Kenya, Tinubu is billed to attend the Africa-France Summit taking place in Nairobi from May 11 to 12. The summit will be co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, and will focus on key issues such as energy transition, digital transformation and climate action.

According to an earlier statement, Tinubu’s participation at the summit is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships with African countries and France.

After the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to participate in the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to 15. The forum, organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, will bring together policymakers and business leaders to discuss economic growth and investment opportunities across Africa.

At both events, Tinubu is expected to highlight ongoing reforms by his administration aimed at positioning Nigeria as a top destination for investment and economic expansion. He will also hold meetings with global and African business leaders.

The President is expected to be accompanied by some ministers and senior aides, and will return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
