The latest episode of The Coffee Table with Ugodre featured Adeola Adewunmi Zer, a global strategist and one of Africa’s most influential business voices, who shared her journey from a long corporate career to founding ZER Consulting Africa.
Adeola said she founded ZER Consulting Africa as a purpose-driven management consulting firm focused on helping African companies scale beyond the million-dollar stage and compete in markets across Asia, Europe, and the America.
She also stated that her motivation for starting the firm goes beyond financial success. Adeola noted that she wanted to create a platform where she could use the knowledge and global exposure, she gained during her career to support other business leaders and contribute to their growth journeys.
As part of its work, Adeola described ZER Consulting Africa as a lifestyle business that allows her to make a meaningful impact while still maintaining balance in her personal life.
Furthermore, she explained that the idea for the business became clear after she left Allianz at the end of 2022. She spent nearly a year speaking with development agencies, private equity firms, and business leaders as she tried to identify what she described as her next north star.
However, Adeola later experienced what she described as a light bulb moment over a single weekend when she realised she didn’t want to spend another decade building someone else’s dream instead she made up her mind to dedicate that time to building her own venture, believing that even if the business did not work out after a few years, she could always return to the corporate world.
In closing, Adeola said the creation of ZER Consulting Africa reflects a deliberate shift toward purpose-driven entrepreneurship and her desire to build something meaningful that also creates a legacy for the future.
