‘Terrorist spy’ arrested at Yobe airport

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected informant linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport.

According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the suspect was apprehended around 5:30 a.m. on April 23 by troops of Sector 2 stationed at the airport.

The individual was reportedly seen acting suspiciously near a military facility before being taken into custody.

Sources said the suspect failed to provide useful information during initial questioning at the point of arrest and was subsequently transferred to a military intelligence unit for further interrogation.

They added that while the overall security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable. Troops’ morale and combat readiness, however, were described as high.

The development comes weeks after troops arrested two other suspected informants linked to Boko Haram/ISWAP in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
