Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has stated that the current legal and detention challenges facing former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, are a direct consequence of his actions while in office.
Appearing as a guest on Channels Television, Sani characterized El-Rufai’s administration as one marked by poor governance and irresponsible leadership. He argued that public officials must eventually face the reality of their tenure once they leave power.
Sani specifically pointed to the persistent violence in Southern Kaduna during El-Rufai’s tenure, questioning the adequacy and sincerity of the security measures implemented by the former governor’s administration.
According to the former lawmaker, current events should serve as a stark reminder to all political officeholders that power is transient and that executive decisions will inevitably face future scrutiny.
El-Rufai remains in custody as anti-corruption and legal proceedings continue to unfold. The former governor has actively challenged aspects of his detention through his legal team.
Meanwhile, a Federal High Court in Abuja has reserved its ruling on a no-case submission filed by El-Rufai in connection with a separate legal matter.
