“She was going to NYSC camp” – Mother cries out as daughter reportedly gets kidnapped along Imo-Abia route

A Nigerian woman has cried out for help after her daughter, who was travelling to an NYSC orientation camp in Abia State, reportedly became unreachable following an alleged abduction along the Imo-Abia route.

In a video shared on TikTok, the distraught mother revealed that her daughter and other corps members left Samonda, Ibadan, around 9am on Wednesday to travel to their respective camps.

According to her, the family received an emergency message from her daughter around 6am on Thursday.

The woman explained that the family had been sharing their live locations since the journey began so they could keep track of one another. She claimed her daughter suddenly sent the word “kidnappers” to their family WhatsApp group before making several missed calls.

She has reportedly been unreachable since then, although her phone calls are still going through.

The mother also claimed that the family received videos showing an alleged attack on the buses along the Imo-Abia route. According to her account, the bus carrying her daughter was reportedly raided and emptied, while only one of three buses allegedly escaped.

“Since 6am I haven’t been able to talk to my child. Around 7am when we started using her location to trace her, she hanged up. We’ve been trying to reach her since then, her calls are going through but she’s not picking up,” she pleaded.

The woman revealed that her daughters are twins, with one posted to Abia and the other to Enugu. She disclosed that Taiye had reached her camp in Enugu, but the family had not heard from Kehinde since the alleged incident.

“Please, Nigerian government, please help us. I beg you in the name of God. Please help me, have mercy on me,” she appealed.

The exact number of abducted persons remains unconfirmed, while authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the reported incident.
