Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has praised filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele, describing every opportunity to work with her as a blessing while highlighting her impact on his acting career.
In a recent interview with E-splash, the actor spoke highly of Akindele’s approach to filmmaking, noting that she regularly compliments his acting skills and expresses appreciation for his work whenever she contacts him for a movie role.
“Every time Funke Akindele calls me, it’s always a blessing. She’s always commending my acting skills, saying she loves my work, and then I felt like putting down her words on my CV,” he said.
Arukwe also described Akindele as one of the best filmmakers and a good teacher, saying he values the opportunity to learn from her whenever they work together.
He, however, noted that despite her supportive nature, she can be demanding when it comes to acting and expects actors to know their craft.
“It’s always a privilege every time she calls me for a movie role. She’s one of the best filmmakers and a good teacher, but one thing about her is that she doesn’t have patience for those who don’t know how to act,” he added.
His comments have highlighted Akindele’s reputation for maintaining high standards on movie sets, while also showing the admiration some actors have for her work and mentorship.
Arukwe’s remarks come as both actors continue to maintain prominent positions within Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with Akindele also known for her successful transition between acting, producing and directing.
