President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm the nomination of Joseph Tegbe as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The request was read on Tuesday during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, following a formal communication from the President to the upper chamber.
In the letter, Tinubu cited Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the President to appoint ministers subject to Senate confirmation, and urged lawmakers to give the request prompt consideration.
The President also forwarded two additional nominations for screening: Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State, and Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
According to a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the nomination of Tegbe has been formally transmitted to the Senate for confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.
Tegbe was nominated last week to replace Adebayo Adelabu, who resigned his ministerial position to pursue a governorship bid in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Like his predecessor, Tegbe is also from Oyo State. He is a fiscal and economic reform expert with over 35 years of experience spanning both public and private sectors.
He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives in fiscal policy reform, institutional development, and governance.
Tegbe has also advised government institutions and private organisations on strategic reforms, regulatory frameworks, and investment structuring.
