The Police have arrested former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, over alleged criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed the arrest, saying Okorocha was picked up at REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja on Monday night.
According to the Force PRO, the former governor was released on bail after about an hour of interrogation.
Iniedu told Channels TV that Okorocha was asked to report back to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for further interrogation as investigation into the allegations continues.
He said the arrest followed Okorocha’s failure to honour previous invitations extended to him.
The Police had initially invited the former governor to the Force Headquarters on September 2, but the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 at the request of his lawyers, a date he also failed to honour.
