Oyo Speaker woos Ibarapa for Makinde, APM ahead of 2027

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, has expressed confidence that the people of Ibarapaland will demonstrate their appreciation for Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration through their political choices in the 2027 elections, including support for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its candidates.

Ogundoyin made the declaration at the weekend while representing Governor Seyi Makinde at the grand finale of the 2026 World Twins Festival in Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Ogundoyin said the people of Ibarapaland had reasons to appreciate an administration that recognised their communities and incorporated the region into Oyo State’s development agenda.

He expressed confidence that residents of the region would have the opportunity to demonstrate their appreciation for the governor’s leadership through their political choices ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The Speaker said the future of Oyo State must continue to be guided by development, sustained progress and the collective interests of its people.

He commended Governor Makinde for what he described as purposeful leadership and developmental strides across the state, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other critical sectors.

According to him, the administration’s interventions across these sectors demonstrate its commitment to the growth and development of Oyo State.

He urged the people of Ibarapaland to continue engaging constructively with the government and supporting initiatives that promote progress, inclusion and prosperity.

Beyond the political message, Ogundoyin described the World Twins Festival as an important celebration of Igboora’s cultural identity and heritage. The community has earned international recognition for its high incidence of twin births.

He said the festival provided an opportunity to showcase Ibarapaland to the world while promoting cultural preservation, tourism and economic growth.

Some APM candidates, including Hon Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, who is contesting for the Oyo South Senatorial District, and Adebayo Anthony Adepoju, popularly called Ibarapakan, who is contesting for the Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, also joined the Speaker at the colourful cultural gathering, which celebrates Igboora’s unique identity and remarkable reputation for twin births.
