With just days to the August 15 governorship election, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday commissioned the Oke-Fia Flyover in Osogbo, describing the project as another milestone in his administration’s infrastructure drive while calling on residents to turn out en masse and vote peacefully.
Addressing a large gathering at the commissioning ceremony, the governor urged eligible voters to participate actively in the election, describing the ballot as the most effective instrument for strengthening democracy and determining the future of the state.
Adeleke expressed gratitude to the people of Osun State for their support since he assumed office, saying the confidence reposed in his administration had made it possible to execute impactful projects across different sectors.
He assured residents that a second term would consolidate the gains already recorded through more infrastructure, social investment and people-centred programmes.
“I appreciate the people of Osun State for standing firmly behind this administration.
“Your support has inspired us to deliver projects that are transforming our state. I urge you to come out peacefully on election day, cast your votes and ensure they count. If given another mandate, we will do even more for our people,” the governor said.
Also, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, represented by the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd), praised the governor for what he described as the rapid infrastructural transformation of the state capital.
He said the Oke-Fia Flyover would not only ease traffic congestion but also enhance the beauty and economic outlook of Osogbo, describing the project as a lasting legacy that would benefit residents and visitors alike.
Meanwhile, Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, urged residents to participate peacefully in the governorship election.
He encouraged voters to remain at their polling units after casting their ballots to ensure that every lawful vote was counted, while cautioning against any act capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the poll.
“I want everyone to come out and vote peacefully. Stay and ensure your vote counts, but do not engage in violence. Let your votes speak for you,” he said.
The inauguration attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, party supporters and residents, many of whom described the Oke-Fia Flyover as one of the flagship projects of the Adeleke administration and a major addition to Osogbo’s urban infrastructure ahead of the governorship election.
