Omotola Jalade reveals shocking amount received from “Mother’s Love” after ₦103m cinema run

Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade has revealed the amount she received as a producer of her movie, Mother’s Love, after the film grossed over ₦103 million at the cinemas.

Taking to her Instagram page, the actress shared the figures while giving an account of the movie’s earnings and expressing gratitude for the success recorded during its cinema run.

She explained that several deductions were made from the total revenue, including payments to exhibitors and distributors, printing, advertising, Value Added Tax, entertainment tax and withholding tax.

“At the end of our run, we had made ₦103,094,663. After deduction from exhibitors, distributors, print, advertising, value added tax, entertainment tax and withholding tax, all deductions and everything else from cinemas, the money that was accrued to us as producers of Mother’s was ₦22,276,558.

100% of that money, as promised by Red Hot Concepts, was donated to the NGO, Slum to School,” she said.

Omotola expressed gratitude while revealing that the entire amount received by the producers was donated to Slum to School, in line with the promise previously made by Red Hot Concepts.

Her disclosure has drawn attention to the significant difference between a movie’s reported cinema gross and the amount that eventually gets to its producers after various deductions and taxes.
