The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Headquarters in Ukpo, Anambra State, AIG Miller Gajere Dantawaye, has urged his officers and staff to prioritise professionalism, accountability, intelligence-led policing, and respect for the rule of law as the key guiding principles in their duties.
He emphasised the importance of working closely with traditional institutions, communities, and stakeholders in Zone 13 to combat crime and criminality effectively.
According to a statement from ASP Chidera Oha, Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, AIG Dantawaye shared these insights during his inaugural meeting with the officers following his appointment as the 10th substantive Assistant Inspector General of Police for the zone.
He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the trust placed in him and commended the officers for their dedication and sacrifices in protecting lives and property.
AIG Dantawaye encouraged them to remain steadfast, disciplined, and professional in fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities.
The AIG emphasised that professionalism, integrity, accountability, intelligence-led policing, and respect for the rule of law would remain the guiding principles of his administration. He charged officers to uphold the highest standards of conduct, respect the fundamental rights of citizens, and remain courteous in their interactions with members of the public.
He called for greater commitment to intelligence gathering, proactive policing, effective supervision, and teamwork in tackling crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, cybercrime, and other emerging security threats within the Zone.
Speaking on community engagement, AIG Dantawaye stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, community-based organisations, and other stakeholders, noting that sustainable security can only be achieved through effective collaboration between the Police and the public.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police also assured officers and men under his command of an open-door leadership style, founded on fairness, transparency, mutual respect, and accountability. He encouraged personnel to remain committed to continuous learning, operational excellence, and the core values of the Nigeria Police force.
The interactive session, which took place at the premises of the Zone 13 Headquarters Ukpo, provided the AIG with the opportunity to formally introduce himself to personnel and outline his vision and strategic priorities for the Zone.
The meeting afforded officers the opportunity to express their commitment to supporting the AIG’s vision and working collectively to enhance security and improve policing services across Anambra and Enugu states, which comprise Zone 13.
The Zone 13 Police Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring a safer environment for all.
