Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has taken to social media to call out the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, over Nigeria’s persistently poor electricity supply.
The actress, in the video shared, expressed her frustration after lamenting that electricity had become increasingly scarce, saying, “No light, there is no light. There’s hardly been light. You people will bring it maybe five minutes, and then it’s gone.”
Kate also questioned a reported claim that some Nigerians had asked the minister to reduce electricity supply in September because their freezers were getting too cold.
Demanding evidence of the alleged complaints, she said, “I need the names and numbers of these people that called you and said you should turn off the light, or you should slow down, or whatever it is you imagine they told you.”
The actress further criticised the growing dependence on alternative power sources, noting that households now rely on generators, inverters and solar energy to meet their electricity needs.
Describing the situation, she said, “Homes are now like factories. Everybody just trying to generate power. Then after, you, this… distribution company or whatever you people call yourself, you now bring bill. What are you people doing?”
Kate also questioned why Nigerians were still struggling with electricity in 2026 despite the huge sums reportedly invested in the power sector.
She recalled that the previous Minister of Power increased electricity tariffs without resolving the supply challenges, adding that although the current minister might not have increased tariffs, “there is no light, so you are lying. I’m sorry.”
The actress ended her outburst by saying Nigerians deserved special treatment in heaven after enduring the country’s numerous challenges, joking that they should be allowed to “get massage, get food” because of everything they had been through.
