A man has sparked a conversation about privacy in relationships after sharing how his cousin became upset when friends called him a “simp” for washing his wife’s underwear.
According to the man, his cousin complained about the reaction from his friends, prompting him to question how they became aware of such a private detail about his marriage in the first place.
He recalled asking his cousin, “How did they know that you washed her underwear?”
According to him, his cousin remained silent, leading him to question why intimate details about what couples do for each other at home should be discussed with outsiders.
Man defends husbands who help their wives
The man argued that there was nothing wrong with a husband performing domestic tasks for his wife, particularly when circumstances require additional support.
He cited pregnancy as an example, maintaining that a husband choosing to handle cooking throughout his wife’s pregnancy should not be subjected to criticism from friends.
He said, “If a man cooks for nine months while his wife is pregnant, I see nothing wrong with that.”
He further argued that friends who criticise how couples choose to share responsibilities are overstepping their boundaries.
Man urges couples to protect their privacy
Beyond the debate over washing a spouse’s underwear, the man maintained that the bigger issue was couples revealing unnecessary details about their relationships to outsiders.
He concluded, “Stop telling people how you relate with your partner at home, and stop telling couples how to live their private lives.”
