Tamunosoye Karibi-George, Miss World Nigeria 2026, will represent her country at the Miss World 2026 grand event in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on Saturday.
Ahead of the event, the 26-year-old debuted two outfits inspired by Nigeria: an evening gown in national colors and a costume honoring her Niger Delta origins.
Karibi-George uploaded photos of her last evening gown on Instagram, which was designed in green, white, and green. “Green, white and green — tonight, I wear home,” she said.
According to her, the garment was designed so that Nigeria could “speak without saying a word.”
She stated that every element depicts the flag she carried throughout the voyage and the country that gave her the strength to participate.
“As I take this final walk, I do so with immense pride — knowing that wherever I go, Nigeria goes with me,” she said.
Her national attire was inspired by the ‘Amazon of Mangrove’.
Karibi-George described it as a celebration of women’s strength, the Niger Delta’s wealth, and the relationship between its people and their surroundings.
“It’s a story with deep roots in the home. It signifies my people’s perseverance as well as a piece of the area that shaped me.
The Bayelsa representative advanced to the Top 40 after winning the Top Model for Africa title on August 28, beating out candidates from Equatorial Guinea, Botswana, Kenya, and South Africa.
On Friday, the federal government encouraged Nigerians to vote for her.
Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, praised her performance and advocated for government support.
Karibi-George was named Miss World Nigeria on June 6 at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, defeating 19 other candidates. She took over for Joy Mojisola Raimi.
The Miss World finale takes place Saturday at 7 p.m. Vietnam time, with 111 delegates.
Thailand’s outgoing queen, Opal Suchata Chuangsri, will take her farewell stroll before crowning a successor.
Stephanie del Valle (66th Miss World) and Danny Mejía (reigning Mr World) will host the event.
