Kogi State Political Elite Forum has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr Abuh Mohammed as the Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), describing the decision as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to merit and inclusive governance.
The forum also lauded the President for appointing other distinguished Nigerians from Kogi State into key federal positions, including Prof. Ronke Bello as a member of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju into the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), and Engr. Abdullahi Ibrahim Oguche as Director of Technical Services at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
In a statement signed by its spokesman, Mr. Ojonuba Jacob, the forum described the appointments as well-deserved, saying they reflected President Tinubu’s resolve to entrust strategic national institutions to competent and experienced professionals.

According to the group, Dr. Mohammed has built a distinguished career marked by professionalism, discipline and integrity, making him well-suited to lead the National Population Commission.
The forum expressed confidence that his wealth of experience would strengthen the commission’s capacity to deliver credible population data and modernise its operations.
“Dr. Mohammed brings a wealth of experience in national demographics. His leadership will be instrumental in ensuring transparent, technology-driven censuses and reliable vital statistics that the nation can be proud of,” the statement said.
The forum noted that reliable demographic data remains critical to national planning, economic development and effective public policy, expressing optimism that Dr. Mohammed’s appointment would reposition the commission to deliver on its constitutional mandate.
While thanking President Tinubu for what it described as the confidence reposed in Kogi indigenes, the group said the appointments had further demonstrated the administration’s commitment to recognising competence across the country.
It added that the Igala nation would continue to support the President’s administration and appreciate what it described as his inclusive approach to governance.
Describing the appointments as a boost to national development, the forum wished all the appointees success in their new responsibilities and expressed confidence that they would justify the confidence reposed in them through exemplary service.
