The senate committee on finance has issued a warrant of arrest against Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, the registrar-general of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The directive followed his repeated failure to appear before the committee to address concerns over the commission’s finances during budget defence sessions.
The warrant was issued on Thursday during a budget defence session with the Federal Ministry of Finance and its agencies.
Senator Sani Musa, chairman of the committee accused the CAC boss of persistently ignoring invitations from the lawmakers to clarify discrepancies in the commission’s revenue records.
According to him, “the registrar general has on many occasions refused to honour invitations and summons by this committee.
“We have issues with the reconciliation of the revenue of the CAC but each time we summoned him, he would send a junior officer.”
During the session, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu called on the committee to recommend Magaji’s removal to President Bola Tinubu over what he described as disregard for the National Assembly.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole also urged the committee to withhold approval of the CAC’s 2026 budget until the Registrar-General personally appears before the lawmakers.
The committee further backed Oshiomhole’s proposal that the commission should not spend its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) without prior approval from the national assembly.
