A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Seyi Makinde has ratified the appointment of a 13-member caretaker committee headed by Tanimu Turaki.
The decision was reached during the faction’s 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Monday in Abuja, amid ongoing leadership disputes within the opposition party.
The motion for the committee’s composition was moved by Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State PDP chairman, and seconded by Clement Fagboyede, an ex officio member of the party.
As part of the new arrangement, Taofeek Arapaja was named national secretary, alongside other members including Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.
The development marks a fresh twist in the PDP’s internal crisis, with rival factions continuing to assert control over the party’s leadership structure following recent court rulings and political disagreements.
The unveiling of the caretaker committee signals an attempt by the Makinde-backed bloc to stabilise its camp and reposition ahead of future political activities.
