Indian police bust drug syndicate, arrest two Nigerians

Police in India have dismantled a drug trafficking network in west Delhi and arrested four suspects, including two Nigerian nationals.

The suspects were identified as Gurmeet Singh, Mukesh Kumar, also known as Vicky, and Nigerian nationals Mancabo David and Emeka Emmanuel, also known as Peter.

A senior police officer said the operation followed intelligence on drug trafficking activities in the Tilak Nagar area.

The police conducted a raid on April 6 at a premises in Ganesh Nagar. Gurmeet and Mukesh were arrested during the raid.

The police said about 73 grams of MDMA were recovered at the scene. Items recovered also include 112 zip-lock pouches, weighing machines, packaging materials and about N700,000 cash suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of Mancabo David on April 9. The police said more than 10 grams of MDMA were recovered from him.

Emeka Emmanuel was also arrested the same day. The police said 7 grams of the drug were recovered from his possession.

“Emmanuel is a habitual offender who was earlier arrested under the NDPS Act and had served a five-year jail term,” the officer said.

The police said the syndicate sourced drugs from suppliers and distributed them across the Delhi-NCR region.

“Gurmeet was identified as the kingpin managing procurement and supply, while Mukesh handled local distribution,” the officer said.

The police said the suspects operated from a rented apartment used as a cover for their activities.

Investigations revealed that the location was also used to run an escort service. The syndicate reportedly deployed CCTV cameras and password-based access systems to evade law enforcement.
