These “love jihad” incidents stem from supremacist assumptions. Muslim women are forbidden to marry non-Muslim men: “Do not marry idolatresses until they believe, for indeed, a believing slave woman is better than an idolatress, even though she pleases you. And do not give your daughters in marriage to idolaters until they believe, for indeed, a believing slave is better than an idolater, even though he pleases you. These people invite you to the fire, and Allah invites you to the garden, and to forgiveness by his grace, and explains his signs to mankind so that perhaps they will remember.” (Qur’an 2:221)

Yet another horrific case of an Islamist man forcibly trying to convert a Hindu girl has come to light from UP. Mohammad Shahnawaz kept a Hindu girl from Ambedkar Nagar in Gujaini, Kanpur hostage for 25 days on the pretext of a providing job and then pressurized her to convert to Islam. When the girl refused, she was beaten with a belt and wire, and then the accused tried to burn her to death by sprinkling kerosene on her and setting her on fire.
However, the victim somehow called her relatives through her mobile, after which they took her to a nursing home in Parampurva and got her admitted. The Hindu girl lives in a rented house with her elderly grandmother after the death of her parents. She was working in a parlor in Yashoda Nagar and just three months back a friend introduced her to Mohammad Shahnawaz.
Shahnawaz called her to Alambagh in Lucknow on the pretext of getting her a job in a beauty parlor in Lucknow. The girl took a four-day leave and reached Alambagh. Shahnawaz kept her in a room for several days by threatening her.
The girl has stated that Shahnawaz was pressurizing her to convert to Islam. On January 3, she tried to escape but was caught. After this, he beat her badly with a wire and belt and set her on fire by sprinkling kerosene. However, during this time the nearby tenants came to hear the screams. After which Shahnawaz extinguished the fire and took the girl to the district hospital but threatened her against informing her family.
The teenage victim said that when Shahnawaz was sleeping, she made a video call to her aunt and called her to the hospital. She has also made a shocking allegation against police of trying to hush up the matter. She alleged that some policemen had come to the hospital and persuaded her to state that she set herself on fire.
According to the victim, on being threatened by the police, she talked about setting herself on fire in the video, but the truth is that Shahnawaz had set her on fire. Police has denied this charge and claim that she accepted setting herself on fire….
